About Me

Audrey Morales is a graduate student in investigative journalism and public affairs at American University. She is a Washington Post practicum student working with the Investigative Team. She is an intern at the Investigative Reporting Workshop.

Morales is from Fairfax, Virginia, and earned her undergraduate degree in English at George Mason University. At GMU, she received an “Excellence in Journalism” award in 2022 for a composite of academic and published articles. She was a columnist in GMU’s student newspaper, The Fourth Estate. She has extensive research and writing experience and uses those skills to become a better storyteller.

On the side, Morales is a poet and nonfiction writer. Her poem “Bonded” was published in 2022 in Volition Literary Magazine. In her free time when she is not reading or writing, she is baking artisan bread and binge-watching the latest TV shows.
